Drama Classes

Skills for everyday life and for the stage...

Stories are the basis of all communication. Whether fiction or reality, a novel or status update, we use storytelling to reach out and connect with each other.

Studies have shown that what adults are most afraid of - ahead of spiders and ghosts - is speaking out in front of others.

Our drama classes are based on the greatest stories ever told. This year, we have used stories ranging from Frankenstein and Sherlock Holmes to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and David Copperfield as inspiration for our classes.

Students will learn how to present their ideas, to listen to the ideas of others, to critique and to receive criticism and, most importantly, to accept and build as a team. At Performers we believe that in the world of ideas you can never be wrong - you just have to be brave enough to try.

Through building the performance skills of stagecraft, voice production, improvisation and characterisation, students will develop the greatest life skill of all - communication. They'll learn how to tell their story...

Drama boosts confidence, improves concentration and provides a fun outlet for creativity. Our students develop skills which will be invaluable in all walks of life. For under 7s, please check out our FROGS drama classes.

Opportunities

There are regular performance opportunities. For those who are interested, we also offer the opportunity to take exams in speech and performance. We use the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) Examination Board for Speech and Performance Examinations. We have a 100% pass rate with many students achieving distinction.

Past Students

Some of our students have gone on to work professionally in theatre and television. Students have trained at Guildhall, ALRA, Central School of Speech and Drama, The Poor School and Birmingham School of Acting. Others have successfully auditioned for the National Youth Theatre and some have appeared on television in programmes such as Coronation Street, Brookside, Hollyoaks, Grange Hill and The Royal. Former students have also appeared professionally in the West End.
